Fix an eSIM connection

Check the right eSIM, mobile data, roaming and network settings step by step.

  1. 1

Turn on the Alaveno eSIM line

A downloaded eSIM can stay switched off until you choose to use it.

    Settings → Cellular → Alaveno

Turn on Turn On This Line.

  2. 2

    Choose Alaveno for mobile data

The eSIM can be on while your phone still sends data through your usual SIM.

Settings → Cellular → Cellular Data

Select Alaveno. Turn off Allow Cellular Data Switching while testing.

  3. 3

    Enable data roaming for Alaveno

Travel eSIMs connect through partner networks, so roaming must be on for this line.

Settings → Cellular → Alaveno → Data Roaming

Turn on Data Roaming for Alaveno.

  4. 4

Check the APN only if your eSIM shows one

Most plans configure this automatically. A wrong APN can stop data from working.

Settings → Cellular → Alaveno → Cellular Data Network

Use the APN shown on your Alaveno installation page. If none is shown, leave it unchanged.

  5. 5

    Reconnect to the local network

After changing SIM settings, the phone may need to register with the network again.

    Control Centre → Airplane Mode

Turn Airplane Mode on for 20 seconds, turn it off, then restart the iPhone if needed.

  6. 6

Check that the plan still has data and time

A used-up, expired or not-yet-active plan cannot provide mobile data.

    Alaveno → My eSIMs

Open your eSIM and check its remaining data, expiry and latest update.
